Ty's Take
Silver City had itself a rough couple of days on the streets—a shooting that put a girl in the hospital, a truck that shouldn't have been moving through a crowd, the kind of incidents that stick with a town this size because everybody knows somebody who was there. But while things were going sideways downtown, eight volunteers were out learning the difference between a bumble bee and every other bee in the Gila, and the county was finally loosening the purse strings on paychecks that have been tight for too long. That's the rhythm of a place like this—the scary stuff and the steady stuff happening at the same time, and you've got to tend to both. The red flag warnings are up again, which means fire season's not waiting for anybody to get their act together, so maybe this week we all remember we're stronger when we're actually paying attention to what matters.
