Ty's Take
The Collegiate Peaks Stampede pulling in Colorado Pro Rodeo Association's best large purse award says something worth saying about this valley. We're a river town now, sure, with galleries on F Street and breweries on every corner, but ranching built this county and it still runs through the bones of who we are. The rodeo draws folks from all over, brings money in, keeps traditions alive at a moment when that kind of thing needs tending to. Meanwhile our arts organizations are landing state grants, our schools are wrestling with governance questions that matter, and the Spartans are out there grinding through a packed schedule. This is what a working valley looks like: roots and growth trying to find some kind of balance.
