Ty's Take

There's a lot of moving in Chaffee County right now, which is either encouraging or concerning depending on where you sit. The hospital's breaking ground on a new east wing, City Market's building out in Buena Vista, and down here in Salida we've got rare cars rolling through and folks like P.T. Wood making their pitch on the two things that actually matter to people: can you afford to live here, and is the county government going to help or get in the way. Meanwhile Wild Connections is back at Chubb Park tearing down fencing that shouldn't have been there in the first place. It all adds up to a valley that's trying to figure out what it wants to be as development keeps knocking on the door. The candidate forums starting this month will matter more than people think, because the people we elect now are the ones who decide whether Salida stays Salida or becomes something else entirely.
