Ty's Take

The fishing derby down by the water this week reminds you what this valley's really about, doesn't it. Somewhere between the bear warnings and the landfill reports and whatever's happening up in Saguache, kids are still learning to cast a line and grandparents are still showing them how. That's the rhythm that matters most around here, the one that keeps going whether the county's figuring out waste diversion or the trustees are sorting out who handles what. Growth and problems and all the moving pieces are real enough, but they're not what holds a place together. It's the generations by the river that do that.
