Ty's Take

The Buena Vista school board's got an open seat and they've pushed the deadline out to the end of August, which means if you've been thinking about it, you've still got time to throw your name in. It's the kind of thankless job that matters more than most people realize, especially in a county where the kids are spread across a lot of ground and the budget gets tighter every year. Meanwhile, down at the fair this summer, the 4-H dog show reminded everybody what this place is really about: kids showing up, doing the work, and learning something that sticks. That's worth remembering when the road closures have you taking the long way around and the smoke's rolling in off the fires. We've got Field of Vision coming up at Meadow Creek on Sunday if you need to remember what these mountains look like on a clear day.
