County Fair season wraps this weekend with the kind of honest work that keeps showing up here every August, whether the crowds are bigger or smaller than last year. An antique tractor pull and a gymkhana at 4 Bar S, the library still doing what a real library does in a time when half the country thinks books are optional, and a couple hundred people probably gathering Monday night for the Willow Fire resilience event because that's what we do after the hard summers. It's the rhythm of this place: work the land, show the animals, remind each other we're still here. That matters more than a lot of the noise headed our way these days.
