Ty's Take

Heart of the Rockies Medical Center's board sitting down on the 28th might seem like routine governance stuff, but there's nothing routine about running a rural hospital in 2024. HRRMC serves this whole valley, from the river towns to the ranches out east, and the pressures these boards face now are different than they were five years ago. Housing costs mean staff can't afford to live here. Insurance reimbursements don't keep up with actual costs. And summer brings a spike in everything from river accidents to heat-related emergencies. If you've got thoughts about how the hospital's doing or what you'd like to see them tackle, the board meeting's a place to show up and say it. Small-town hospital boards don't make decisions in a vacuum, and they shouldn't have to.
