Ty's Take
Chaffee County's got itself a classic late-summer moment coming up—the Fair and Rodeo rolling in Friday with all the dust and noise and genuine community that still matters out here, while upstream in Buena Vista they're wrestling with which historic buildings to save and which rules to write for e-bikes that more and more people are using to get around. It's the old valley and the new one bumping up against each other, same as always. Nobody's wrong exactly, but everybody's got a different idea about what this place is supposed to be, and nobody's got enough money to do it all. That's election season thinking right there, whether the candidates have filed yet or not.
