Ty's Take
Word gets around fast when our writers make the shortlist. Three finalists from the region in a statewide contest is the kind of thing that reminds you there's more ink flowing through these valleys than most people realize—folks who've settled here or stayed here because the Collegiate Peaks and the river and maybe just the quiet winters give them something to write about that they couldn't find anywhere else. That's worth noting on a week when the other news is CDOT telling us not to nail signs to their right-of-way posts, which is the kind of gentle reminder that means someone probably already did it and somebody else had to have the conversation.
