Ty's Take

There's something about a slow morning that makes you notice what's actually working around here. City Council tightening up its own rules, a new superintendent settling in to build on what his district's already done right, a local author getting her mushroom guide into the national conversation, the Kaleidoscope Center bringing in Snoopy for the kids. None of it screams urgency, but that's sort of the point. Rolla and the towns around it aren't in crisis mode. They're in maintenance mode, which is its own kind of accomplishment. The rain will pass and the cool will burn off, and people will go back to their work knowing the machinery here is holding together because somebody cares enough to keep tightening the bolts.
