Recorders offices don't usually move the needle on a Tuesday, but come August 28th, the folks at the Phelps County Recorder's office will be charging you more for the paperwork that keeps land deals and property lines straight around here. It's the kind of thing that slips past most people until they're selling a house or filing a deed, and then suddenly they're writing a bigger check than they expected. The county has to keep the lights on and the records organized, sure, but it's worth knowing what just got a little more expensive in your own backyard, especially if you've got property business coming down the line.
