A decade in, Ranney Run has become one of those events that feels like it's always been part of the September calendar around here. Started small the way most good things do in rural counties, and now folks mark their fall by whether they're hiking that route or floating one of the streams south of town that day. Ten years of getting people outside and moving through country that doesn't need much selling once you're actually in it, and that's worth noting in a place where the default has shifted pretty hard toward staying put. The anniversary this month gives folks a reason to dust off the boots and remember why somebody started this in the first place.
