Ty's Take

The residency question hanging over one of our council members is the kind of small-town problem that feels big when trust is on the line. These aren't faceless bureaucrats we're talking about, they're neighbors, and when someone's living situation becomes uncertain right before an election, people notice and people care. The commissioners and city folks have got their hands full this week sorting through agendas and agreements, which is just how it goes when a community the size of Red Lodge runs itself. In the meantime, those of us paying attention might spend a little less time wondering about technicalities and a little more time asking what kind of people we want leading us, because residency papers only tell you part of that story.
