Ty's Take

Part three of the planning editorial, housing action plans, and now a "Housing Action Plan" open for review—and that's before we even get to the voters hollering about cost of living. Sounds like the county's finally feeling the pressure it's been dodging for a solid decade, which beats sitting still, but there's a cart-before-horse problem nobody wants to name out loud. You can't plan your way out of a housing shortage when the real issue is that land costs what it costs because everybody and their cousin from Denver wants in, and the folks who actually work here can't afford to stay. The action plan will sit on a table, people will comment, and then what? Until someone starts talking about actually building something affordable instead of just talking about talking about it, we're spinning wheels.
