Ty's Take
Small towns run on the people who show up. Saturday morning pancakes, a library staff that knows your kids by name, a genealogical society helping folks understand where they come from, grandparents getting their due on a Tuesday in September. None of it makes the state news, and none of it needs to. These are the threads that hold a place together when the ski season ends and the second-home owners pack up, when the tourist buses move on and you're left with your neighbors. Pagosa's been built on that kind of showing up for a long time now, and it's worth noticing when it keeps working.
