Housing's been the third rail around here for two years running, and the Daily Post's right to keep beating the drum on it. But there's a gap between identifying the problem and actually moving folks toward solutions, and that gap's where most of these conversations go to die. You can write all the editorials you want about what we need, but until the people who can actually do something, the ones sitting in county offices and on planning boards, start having the hard conversations with developers and with each other about what Pagosa Springs looks like in ten years, we're just rearranging deck chairs. The housing crisis didn't get here overnight, and it won't get solved that way either. What matters now is whether anybody's willing to do the unglamorous work of actually building something.
