Echo Canyon's back open for boating, which means the reservoir's finally holding enough water to make that worthwhile again. That's the kind of thing people around here watch like a stock ticker, because everything flows downhill from there, literally and figuratively. The San Juans gave us a decent snowpack this year and the summer moisture has helped, but we all know how fast that changes. Worth noting that it took a drought bad enough to close us down in the first place before we really paid attention to how tight these margins are.

Echo Canyon Reservoir reopened to boating access
Colorado Parks and Wildlife has reopened Echo Canyon Reservoir State Wildlife Area to boating after crews from Rio Blanco Fire completed operations that required temporary lake access restrictions.
