Ty's Take
Between the evacuation order on Lower Blanco Road and the water district holding firm on Stage 2 restrictions, this week reminds us that living in the San Juans means managing real hazards alongside real scarcity. But look at what else is happening: families signing kids up for free haircuts, youth programs filling slots, the Unitarian Fellowship collecting school supplies, Thingamajig Theatre Company bringing Broadway to town. That's the thing about a small county. The threats are immediate and they're serious, but so is the work of keeping things normal, keeping kids fed and ready for school, keeping community alive while we deal with fire and drought. Both things are true at once, and both deserve our attention today.
