The broadband outage that knocked us offline this week was a reminder of how fast things have changed around here, and how much we've come to depend on it. Same week the town council moved to block new data centers with a two-year moratorium, which tells you something about the fight between growth and what we actually need. You can't have it both ways: you can't want the infrastructure of the modern world and then vote to keep the modern world out. Water's the real crisis though, the one Creation Care Pagosa is pushing us to face in the Colorado River Basin. We've got geothermal springs deeper than anywhere on earth, but that doesn't mean we're safe from thirst. Get downtown for the Art Walk on the 24th while you're thinking about what matters.
