Ty's Take

Road work on the pass is never great timing, but May's when it has to happen—weather window closes fast up there. What catches the eye this week, though, is how many of these stories circle back to the same thing: people in this town deciding their neighbors matter. A spring concert, a prom for kids who need a second chance, a fundraiser for families in crisis. None of it happens without volunteers showing up. In a place where the economy swings on tourism dollars and the cost of living keeps climbing, that kind of showing-up isn't automatic. So if you've got a Saturday free, go hear the band play. And if you know a kid who should be at that prom, or a family that needs what Friends and Neighbors does, pick up the phone. The pass will open again. Communities that hold together are a different kind of infrastructure altogether.
