Ty's Take

When a man pleads guilty to involuntary manslaughter in a place this size, the whole valley feels it before the paperwork clears. Guilt or innocence, the ripples run through families who've known each other for generations, through the networks that hold these small communities together. Meantime, the Fiesta Council's finances stay locked up tight enough that nobody can quite see where the money's going, and that breeds its own kind of trouble, the kind that festers when people lose faith in how things are run. Up here we're built on trust that runs deeper than any contract, and when that breaks, it takes years to patch. There's a lot of hurt in this week's news, and not all of it shows up in the arrest records.
