Ty's Take

The high school ball season's coming down to that stretch where everything that happened in September and October either pays off or doesn't, and around here that means some of these kids are playing for something bigger than a trophy. Out in country like this, a playoff run can mean the difference between a team that builds something or one that just goes through the motions, and coaches know it. You'll see the difference in practice these next few weeks, in how hard these young people push themselves when the real weight of it sets in. Playoffs Less Than a Month Away

Fall sports teams in the Rio Grande area are entering the final stretch before playoffs begin next month. Dulce's volleyball team defeated Peñasco 3-0 on September 28, with Emilia Trujillo recording seven kills among the Lady Panthers' 24 total kills in the match.

Pets of the Week

Mamba, a 72-pound dog with a laid-back temperament, is featured as this week's adoptable pet. The 7-year-old gentle giant moves through life at her own leisurely pace with a calm and easygoing nature.
