Ty's Take
Friday night lights are coming back to the valley, and you can feel it in the air up here where the seasons turn fast and the football schedule matters as much as the hunting calendar. By this time every year, the talk at Bode's shifts from summer water flows and forest fire danger to who's got the arm this season, whether the Lady Trojans can keep their winning ways going, and whether anybody's figured out how to stop the team that's actually chasing something. It's small-town sports the way it's meant to be, where a kid playing linebacker on Friday might be hauling hay or guiding hunters come October, and the whole community shows up because that's what you do here. The prep season kicking off also means we're headed into that stretch where the high country gets serious about itself again, the smell of autumn starting to creep down from the Brazos, and life settling back into a rhythm that's been the same for generations.
