Ty's Take

Word came down that Trujillo's taking a plea deal in that shooting death up here, which means the legal machinery that's been grinding through since it happened will finally move toward some kind of closing. In a place this size, where most folks know each other or know someone who does, a case like this leaves a particular kind of mark. The details matter less at this point than the fact that a man will answer for what happened to his friend, that the family will get some measure of resolution, and that we can all stop wondering how this story ends. That's what plea deals do in small communities, whether anybody's satisfied with them or not.
