Ty's Take
Bode's has a coffee pot going most mornings, and if you sit long enough you'll hear what's really on people's minds around here. Last week it was the shelter over in Española needing homes for dogs and cats that nobody claimed, which shouldn't surprise anyone who knows how ranching country works, but it does. We've got tough lives up here, tight budgets, and most of us are already stretched thin with livestock and land. Still, there's always someone at that counter willing to take on one more mouth if it means keeping something alive. These animals didn't ask to end up in a cage, same as this land didn't ask for the drought we've been living with. If you've got the space and a little extra kindness, the shelter's got somebody waiting.
