The body found this week belongs to someone's daughter, someone's neighbor, someone who walked these roads. The details are still coming out, the way they always do in a place this size, where news travels faster than the Rio Grande runs in spring. What matters right now is that a family has answers, hard as those answers are, and that our sheriffs and state police did the work to bring someone home. In country this remote, with distances that swallow sound and time, a missing person can feel like the mountains themselves have opened up and taken them. When that missing becomes found, even in grief, there's something in it that lets a community exhale. Our thoughts are with her family and everyone who knew her.

Police Find Missing Woman’s Body
Authorities recovered the body of Jeanette Salazar near the Cordova Transfer Station four days after she went missing from an incident in Chimayó on July 9. Salazar had been kidnapped by two men and their girlfriends following an altercation at a house in Rio Chiquito.
