Ty's Take
When a man who wore the badge pleads guilty, the whole valley feels it different than when somebody else does. There's a particular weight to it—the betrayal of a trust that doesn't get written back into the ledger easy, especially up here where everybody knows everybody and the job of keeping order depends on people believing the person doing it hasn't forgotten whose side they're supposed to be on. The details matter less than the fact that it happened, and that he admitted it. That's the only honest move left when you've crossed that line.
