Ty's Take

There's something about fall on the plateau that makes you notice the small stuff, the way the light hits different when the clouds sink down around the mountains and the air gets that particular bite to it. This time of year, with fire season winding down and the Frijoles crews finally getting their hands on repairs after all that rain, you start thinking about what comes next: the respiratory season ahead, the community events that actually get us off the hill and talking to each other, the scavenger hunts and brewery fundraisers that remind us we're more than just the Lab and the houses packed onto this mesa. We've got some serious work still ahead of us with those burn scars and runoff, but right now, with 90 percent containment and cooler weather moving in, it feels like we might catch our breath for a minute. Worth paying attention to, at least until December.
