Ty's Take
Flash flood warnings tend to catch people's attention around here, and with good reason. The state emergency operations center is running drills while the National Weather Service watches monsoon patterns, and NMDOT is asking drivers to take this seriously, which they usually do once they remember what water does on a plateau. We've got the burn scars from Cerro Grande and Las Conchas still mapped into the landscape, and those same fire-scarred slopes turn into flash flood channels when the sky opens up hard enough. The next few weeks matter, so check your drainage, know your routes off the hill, and believe the forecasters when they say the weather could get rough.
