Ty's Take
This week the town's attention splits between two things that say something true about Los Alamos. We're surveying neighbors about athletic courts at the community park, which matters because growth keeps pressing in from the valley and folks here want their kids to have space to throw a ball. At the same time, we're marking another September 11th with a memorial hike up Pajarito Mountain, remembering a different kind of pressure entirely. Around here those two impulses run together, maybe always have: building something for the future while honoring what was lost getting here. The Frijoles Fire kept its damage light on the forest side, which is a mercy we don't take for granted after Cerro Grande and Las Conchas carved these mountains up. Small town, big history, always watching the weather and the next generation both.
