Ty's Take
The county's giving itself another year and change to gather public input on the comprehensive plan, which is either a sign of genuine deliberation or a sign that nobody's quite sure what growth on the hill is going to look like five years from now. Either way, the extended timeline to September 2026 at least gives people time to study what's on the table, and maybe it gives the Planning and Zoning Commission time to answer the letter in today's paper asking why the last comprehensive plan somehow disappeared from public memory. Growth pressure from the Lab is real and it's pushing south toward Española and west toward Santa Fe, so this plan matters more than most. Come September, folks ought to show up and say what they think this place should look like.
