Ty's Take
There's something worth noticing about a town that schedules its community events months out and gets people to actually show up. Saturday's quilt market down at the Piecemakers guild is the kind of thing that sounds small until you remember half this plateau is engineers and scientists who spend their days thinking in abstractions, and the other half is looking for ways to stay rooted here. A handmade quilt isn't just fiber and thread in Los Alamos, it's someone saying this place, this work, this life together matters enough to spend hundreds of hours on it. The RPLA townhall coming up the week before gives folks a chance to talk about what they need from the community, and the market gives them something to actually do together. That's not nothing, especially in a place where the Laboratory can make it easy to forget there's a town at all.
