Ty's Take
Utility bills climbing again, a regional landfill agreement finally moving forward, and local politicians trading serious accusations on everything from ethics to criminal conduct. It's the kind of week where you can see the real pressures building on this plateau, the ones that don't make the evening news in Santa Fe or Albuquerque. The Lab keeps growing, housing stays tight, infrastructure strains, and now the question of where the region puts its garbage becomes a three-county negotiation. Meanwhile, the yard sales keep happening Saturday and the Fall Fiesta is coming to Valles Caldera because life goes on up here no matter what anybody's claiming about anybody else. Most people in Los Alamos have their hands full just paying their power bill and making sure the kids get registered for soccer.
