Labor Day weekend's shaping up busier than usual up here, what with a 40-ton crane rolling through town Monday and the gas company venting on the same day, all while fire season still has its grip on the plateau. The Frijoles Fire's nearly 60 percent contained but sitting at over 15,000 acres, so everybody's watching the weather and the smoke, the way we always do this time of year. Good to see the Forest Service and National Forests Foundation pushing the new passport program, though, because when people get out into those mountains and canyons around Bandelier and the Valles, they understand what we're trying to protect. Between the Lab work and the summer tourism and our own community rhythm, there's always something moving on this hill. Just hope everyone who's out and about keeps an eye on conditions.

FBI: Shiprock Man Sentenced For Stabbing
