Ty's Take
Project Y Robotics hosting New Mexico's first FIRST competition this year says something about what this town does best: take kids with half an idea and the kind of problem-solving DNA that comes from growing up around engineers and physicists, then point them toward something that matters. The Lab's shadow falls long over Los Alamos, and mostly we talk about what that costs us, the housing squeeze, the traffic on the hill. But watch what happens when you give teenagers access to that intellectual firepower and a challenge that requires both creativity and precision, and you see why this place exists in the first place. That robotics team didn't just host a competition, they changed what's possible for kids across the state. That's worth noticing.
