Ty's Take
The bear cub advisory buried in today's briefing says something true about how we live up here now—the wildlife is pushed closer, we're building higher on the plateau, and every summer the line between our world and theirs gets thinner. Meanwhile the Lab keeps growing, housing pressure keeps pushing families down into Española and Santa Fe, and fire season waits for no one. You can see it in the smaller stories too: Chamisa Elementary still under construction, the Elks Lodge car show, a concert on the plaza. Life happens in the gaps between the big stuff—the science, the bears, the politics that swirl around bears ears and child tax credits. This is the town we've got: brilliant people doing world-class work in a beautiful place that's increasingly crowded and increasingly wild at the same time. The trick is remembering they're not separate problems.
