Ty's Take
The Fire Department's push to strengthen wildfire response through statewide partnerships is the kind of talk that gets real attention up here, and for good reason—Cerro Grande and Las Conchas left scars that don't fade, and every household on the plateau still remembers what it looks like when evacuation becomes real. What matters now is whether those partnerships translate to actual resources and coordination when the monsoon season dries out and we're sitting on a tinderbox again. The tech sector jobs coming in from Albuquerque and Lab growth pushing housing prices higher means more people living in the wildland interface every year, more exposure, more need for the kind of coordinated response that sounds good in a press release but takes real work in practice. If Robinson's tax proposal or any other local funding mechanism could help lock in that statewide coordination and give LAFD the muscle to back it up, it's worth the conversation—because fire season isn't about ceremony, it's about survival.
