Ty's Take

You don't need a PhD to notice that this town runs on infrastructure most of us never think about until something goes wrong—the gas lines under the hill, the water systems, the senior centers where people land when they can't live alone anymore. Wednesday the county's testing that main gas pipeline for integrity; same week the Betty Ehart Senior Center closes for renovations that should've happened years ago. It's the unsexy work of keeping a community functioning, the kind of thing that doesn't make the news until it fails, and by then you're wishing somebody had paid attention sooner. Meanwhile, the library's asking what you actually want from them, which is a better question than most municipalities ever ask. Pay attention to that survey. These are the threads that hold a town together.
