Ty's Take
Wildlife's been wandering down from the mountains more than usual this summer, and whether it's bighorn sheep checking out Pajarito Acres or deer browsing the fruit stand at Mari Mac, the message seems clear enough—the plateau's getting crowded. Between the Lab's steady growth, housing pushing up the hill from Santa Fe and Española, and now the animals edging closer to where we live and shop, you start to wonder what gives. The Fourth of July drone show will light up the sky real pretty, the roller skate nights at the rink will keep the kids occupied, and we'll all get back to normal come Monday. But normal on this hill keeps meaning something different than it did five years ago, and the bighorn don't seem to mind reminding us of it.
