Ty's Take

Every August, there's that moment when the back seats get loaded up and somebody's kid heads out the door with a duffel bag and a half-smile, and the house feels different after they leave. That's what's happening right now around Lebanon, with a fresh crop of high school graduates pointed toward Missouri State and points beyond. The alumni who made that same drive years back understand the weight of it, which is why they're showing up to see these kids off. It's small stuff, really, a handshake or a word of encouragement from somebody who sat in those same classrooms and came back whole. This town has always sent its people out into the world, and it's always brought some of them home again. That matters.
