Bernie Carrillo made it to 92, which around here means he saw Las Cruces transform from a town where everybody knew everybody to a city that's still trying to figure out who it is. That kind of long view matters, especially when you're watching young people like the ones behind Threaded Joy build something new while the rest of us are still arguing about whether change is good or bad. The obituary column and the business section don't usually sit in conversation, but they do today: one tells us what we've lost, the other shows us what we're gaining. Both are true.
