Obit pages and TV guides don't usually stop you cold, but Thomas Ocie Williams' death notice landed different around here. He was the kind of guy who showed up, put in the work, knew half the valley by name. The faces you see at the grocery store, at church, at the Aggie games, they're built on people like Ocie, the ones who didn't make headlines but made the place function. Las Cruces is growing fast, new subdivisions eating into the pecan orchards every year, and sometimes you don't realize what you've lost until the obituary tells you it's gone. We'll miss him.
