Ty's Take

The TV guide lands in your mailbox like it always does, and most folks flip straight past it to the sports section or the classifieds. But there's something worth noticing in how our viewing habits have fractured over the years. What used to be a shared experience, everybody watching the same three networks on the same night, has splintered into a thousand separate streams. You've got your kids on one device, your wife on another, somebody's abuela in the living room with her novelas on cable, and nobody's really watching together anymore. Maybe that's progress, having something for everyone. But it says something about Las Cruces right now, too, this growth we're experiencing—we're pulling in all directions at once, and the old glue that held communities together isn't holding like it used to.
