Ty's Take

Two motorcycle crashes in as many days around here have left one man dead and two teenagers hurt, a hard reminder that fall riding season doesn't mean riding season without risk. The roads around Lake of the Ozarks are beautiful this time of year, especially when you're trying to outrun the cold, but these stretches on 5 and Double-A aren't forgiving. Meanwhile, we've got a house fire near Flower Pot Cove that displaced a family, the kind of thing that happens when weather turns and heating systems kick in. On a brighter note, the community rescue groups are out there pushing applications for those CFL grants, and local business still has some fight in it with fall hours and customer appreciation sales holding on. This time of year separates the seasonal from the rooted.
