The Big Bass Bash hitting its 20th year out here tells you something worth knowing about this place. A tournament that's stuck around two decades, that keeps drawing competitors and hanging $200,000 in prize money on the water, doesn't survive on nostalgia alone. It survives because people still show up, still believe there's something worth fighting for in these channels and coves. Meanwhile we're watching the shoreline change faster than some of us can keep up with, new developments annexing land, new businesses finally breaking ground after years of "coming soon," and real estate changing hands at a pace that would've seemed impossible ten years back. The bass are still here. The question is whether the lake that made them worth chasing stays recognizable to the people who remember when all this was quieter.
