Ty's Take
We've lost someone this week in waters that draw thousands here every year looking for a good time, and it serves as a hard reminder that shallow doesn't mean safe. A St. Louis man's death after jumping into the lake is the kind of tragedy that hits different when you live here, when you know the coves and the drop-offs and the way summer fun can turn in seconds. We'll see the usual warnings cycle through, the usual talk about life jackets and knowing your limits. But mostly we'll see families keep coming, the way they do, because that's what people do around these waters. Just maybe a few more will think twice before they jump.
