A house fire out in the Gravois area is a reminder that Labor Day weekend brings out the best and worst in how we spend our time around here. While folks are out on the water checking fuel prices and planning their last long-weekend runs, or inside picking out new décor and tools for projects that won't wait, a family's dealing with the kind of loss that no holiday puts back together. The work of living in a place like this, on a lake where everybody's got something going on, means showing up for neighbors when the sirens go. That's the real labor worth saluting this weekend.
