Ty's Take
The Shootout brought the usual chaos and spectacle out on these waters this past weekend, boats stacked three deep and the whole scene looking like something between a floating car show and a mild traffic jam. But buried in all those poker run photos and luxury vehicle sponsorships is a reminder worth keeping straight: this many boats moving this fast in this confined space, with tow ropes and rental pontoons and folks who maybe don't know these channels as well as they think they do, is a recipe for something worse than a near-capsize. We saw it happen, caught on camera, and we'll probably see it happen again before summer's out. The lake brings money and life to this region, and that matters, but it also demands a little respect and a lot of attention from everybody with a key in the ignition.
