Ty's Take
The Shootout's back and it brought the noise, the speed, and yeah, the crashes too. Two boats punched through the 200 mark on day one, with American Ethanol pushing all the way to 215 and taking top honors, which means the kind of money and reputation these racers dream about all year. You get boats moving that fast on these waters and something's always going to go sideways, literally, and the photographers were there to catch it all, frame by frame. Fire, airborne hulls, the whole show. If you weren't down at the docks this weekend watching it happen, the videos are already making the rounds, but nothing beats being here when the air smells like fuel and burning rubber and you can feel 200 horsepower in your chest.
