There's a particular kind of accident that doesn't make sense until it's too late. A Jefferson City woman learned that the hard way this week when her personal watercraft went wrong out on these waters, and now she's dealing with injuries that'll take months to sort through. We see it every summer around here, the mix of warm weather and what people think is invincibility, and the lake doesn't forgive much. It's the same story playing out in Benton County with a UTV, in Miller County with a tree. The season's still young, and already we're collecting the price of not paying attention.

Sedalia Man Killed in Benton County UTV Accident
A 43-year-old Sedalia man was killed Saturday evening in a UTV accident in the 11,000 block of Leisure Drive in Benton County when his vehicle ran off the road, hit a tree, and overturned on top of him. The man was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene just after 6 p.m.
